Should you cuss on your blog or social media? What about posts about politics or religion? I guess it depends on the topic of your post. If it is how to find a church you will fit in, then a discussion about religion is necessary; if it has to do with finding the right realtor, lawyer, or car insurance, leave religion out of the equation.
Politics is the same thing. Suppose you are writing about the upcoming election. In that case, discussing politics and political candidates is a necessary evil. Still, when writing about installing a fence around your pool, no one cares if you are a Republican or Democrat, so keep the political posting to yourself.
What about cussing, though? Recently, I was scrolling through TikTok when an editor that I follow went on two rants full of curse words about how people had been treating her and telling them to F off. It was grotesque, to say the least, but what is more, it made me not want to hire her to edit my writing. Would you work with an editor who posts vulgar language discussing people she disagrees with?
